Agentic AI is going to be the biggest trend in 2025. It’s a type of AI designed to carry out specific tasks on its own, without needing constant human input. The word "agentic" comes from "agent," meaning an entity that performs a task. This kind of AI is more than just automating simple tasks—it can handle repetitive jobs like checking schedules, sending reminders, or answering basic customer questions, freeing people up to focus on other things. As this technology grows, agentic AI will be able to do even more complex tasks, making life easier and more efficient.
Already, agentic AI is starting to have an impact on our everyday lives. Simple tasks like organizing your calendar, booking appointments, or helping with customer service are being automated, which saves people time. For example, OpenAI has rolled out beta versions of ChatGPT that can do things like provide news updates or alert you about new concert tickets. Other companies like Salesforce, Nvidia, and Google are also developing similar tools to help with work tasks and improve customer experiences. As these tools get smarter, they will become more helpful in a wider range of situations.
However, there are some concerns with agentic AI that we can’t ignore. One major issue is security. As AI starts to control more devices and systems, there’s a risk that hackers could take control of it and use it for harmful purposes. Another big concern is job loss. Many jobs, especially in areas like customer service or basic banking, could be replaced by AI systems that can perform those tasks automatically. While new jobs may be created in AI-related fields, some workers could face challenges in transitioning to new roles.
Despite these risks, I believe agentic AI should be allowed to progress. The benefits, such as saving time, improving productivity, and creating new job opportunities, make it worth supporting. With proper regulations and security measures in place, we can manage the potential dangers, like hacking or job loss. Overall, agentic AI is a powerful tool that will change the way we work and live, and it’s important that we embrace it while making sure it’s used responsibly and safely.
